Lowpoly Studios at the Codemotion 2011
posted on Mon, 07 Mar 2011
On last Saturday Lowpoly Studios was at the Codemotion in Rome, an important event about modern technologies with more than 70 talks on different subjects from the IT world.
Our founder Davide Coppola opened the gamedev section of the event giving a talk about multi-platform game development using free and open source software and frameworks.
The presentation is available for download as ODP files in English and Italian, but you can also check it online on slideshare.
During the day we also took part to the Game Barcamp session with a 5 minutes pitch about our game The Undergrounder, but unfortunately we weren't able to show anything new for technical problems.
A video of the whole event should be available soon, so check our website in few days for updates.
Meme Invaders, a new Flash game for all the meme lovers
posted on Thu, 17 Feb 2011
Meme Invaders is an extended version of the flash game we realized as replacement for the advertisement blocks on Reddit.com last month.
As the name may suggest, it's a Space Invaders clone based on famous internet memes.
You control Pedo Bear and you have to defeat other meme characters to get the highest scores. The gameplay reflects the classic arcade game, so you face infinite waves of enemies getting faster and more aggressive as the game goes on.
We made this game also to promote our Flash games portal AskFlashGames, so it will be available for distribution on Mochimedia and FlashGameDistributon starting from next week.
If you want to support us, play the game, have fun and spread the word! :-)
Opening AskFlashGames.com - your new place for flash games
posted on Mon, 03 Jan 2011
We are proud to announce our new project: AskFlashGames.com - a website collecting quality flash games carefully selected by us.
At the moment AskFlashGames features 180 games grouped in 11 categories, but we'll keep adding new games every day so this number is going to grow rapidly.
If you like flash games and want to get notified when a new game is published, you can follow AsfFlashGames on Facebook and Twitter.
Finally, if you are a game developer and you want to submit your flash games to AskFlashGames, you can use this submission form.
We decided to start AskFlashGames to fund our game development, even if this is probably an unusual way in the indie scene. Nevertheless we hope people will appreciate our effort to remain independent without asking for donations, but still offering a product related to what we do and love: games.
If you really want to help us and support our game development, please spread the word about AskFlashGames.com and check the website every day for new games.

Our first Flash game: Round And Rolling
posted on Tue, 02 Nov 2010
We are proud to announce the release of our first Flash game: Round And Rolling.
For us Round and Rolling is not just a simple, but addicting browser game, Round And Rolling is the beginning of a development experiment.
Starting from today we're going to publish a new browser game every month (or 2), then if a game will get good feedbacks and will gain gamers attention we're going to make an improved sequel. If the sequel will do well too, we'll probably make a mobile or even a desktop version of it.
You can consider this experiment like a new type of development cycle, where gamers can play early versions of a game and decide if it will become real finished game or not.
Hopefully this should be a win-win situation for you (gamers) and us (developer). :-)
So play the game and let us know your opinion via our Contact page or leaving a message on the forum.
The Undergrounder entered in the IGF 2011
posted on Thu, 21 Oct 2010
After a long thinking we decided to submit our game The Undergrounder to the Independent Games Festival 2011 just few hours before the deadline, here the entry page.
The game is still under heavy development and still unfinished, nevertheless we really hope the judges will appreciate the ideas behind it and the innovative gameplay.
We're also confident that entering the contest will help us to speed up the development in order to try to give the judges more and better contents as soon as possible.
If you want to support us, and you're not already doing it, just sign for the closed beta and spread the word about the game.

Everything works like already explained in the two previous news, so if you want to help us testing the game on Os X just follow these steps:

First invites will be emailed next week to selected testers, all the other registered users will receive an invite during the the following rounds.
The Undergrounder closed beta is open for registration
posted on Tue, 07 Sep 2010
After several months of development, Lowpoly Studios is glad to open the testing of The Undergrounder to gamers.
The testing will be accessible on invitation only and will follow a formula similar to the one used for Google Gmail and other Google products.
We're going to select a first group of testers that will receive the first invites, then, after a few weeks, all the active testers will receive new invites to share with friends and other people interested in joining the testing.
As most of the interaction between the team and the testers will happen on our forum, we're going to create a forum account for every selected tester. In order to complete the process, selected testers will need to confirm the forum registration by clicking on the confirmation link that will be emailed by the forum.
So why help us with testing?
Most active testers will receive discounts on the game and will be listed in the game credits as a tester.
If you are dreaming a career in the game industry, this could be an useful experience to add to your CV.
Unfortunately this first stage of testing is for Linux and Windows only, but Mac testing will start before the end of the month so if you're a Mac gamer keep following us to get notified of new updates.
Are you really interested in testing The Undergrounder and helping us to make an awesome game? Then fill the registration form and wait next week when we'll contact all the selected testers!

First, an official game website is online. It's still under development and not all the sections are finished yet, but you can start bookmarking it and come back for more updates soon.
Second, we've released the debut trailer of the game, featuring a great track composed by Daniel Pharos from Knights of Soundtrack. The video is also available on youtube and vimeo, so don't forget to subscribe to our channels to get notified as soon as new videos are online.
Any feedback or comment is really appreciated, so please don't hesitate to contact us.
Good news for The Undergrounder
posted on Mon, 29 Mar 2010
In the last month we decided to focus our development on The Undergrounder. As a result there are now two exciting announcements!
The first one is that the game will have a Mac OS X version joining the already planned Linux and Windows ones.
The second one is that Kim Roberts, a very talented artist, is joining our team for working on The Undergrounder. Everybody here is sure that she will boost the graphics of the game to a superb quality.
Unfortunately there's also bad news regarding the other game we were developing: Evolution War. For several reasons the development of this game has been canceled and we can't be sure it will be ever restarted.
On the bright side we are now working on two unannounced games, but as they are still in a early state of development, we can't say anything else for a while. Follow us via the RSS feeds or any social network listed on the side to know more.
A brand new website and a new contest!
posted on Mon, 26 Oct 2009
We know the first website was not "amazing", but it was just supposed to be a temporary one (made in 2 days) and due to our busy schedule the "temporary" period lasted for a couple of months, until today...
At last we have a new website and it comes with a lot of new stuff, changes and improvements:
- the Developers Blog is integrated in the website
- an About section perfectly fitting our style
- a Facebook fan page for all the Facebook users
- RSS feeds for the news and the
dev blog
- the website is rendered in the proper way in IE7 and IE8 (but there's no support for IE6, because we endorse the
IE 6 No More campaign)
And more things are coming soon, like dedicated pages for the games and much more.
For celebrating the new website and to connect more with the gaming community we decided to have a new contest where we are giving away 3 free copies of The Undergrounder.
You can enter the contest in 3 ways:
- follow us on Twitter, and retweet this message: "RT @LowpolyStudios new website is XXXXX #contest: follow, rate, RT and win a free copy of The Undergrounder" where XXXXX is your rating/comment on the new website
- become a fan on Facebook and leave a comment about the website in the fan page
- sign up to the forum and comment this news
You can just choose one or two of the 3 ways, but the more you show your love, the more chances you have to win!
The contest will last 3 days, from Monday 26 to Wednesday 28 at 23.59 GMT, we will announce the 3 randomly chosen winners on Friday 30.
Maybe you are wondering why the number 3 for everything... well, 3 is the perfect number ;-)
Game announce: The Undergrounder
posted on Thu, 27 Aug 2009
The Undergrounder is a fast paced action/puzzle game based on the hard life of millions of workers that every day have to use the underground to commute to work.
The player plays the role of a worker that needs to travel around a city using the underground for his/her duties.
Even if this could seem a simple and boring activity, there are a lot of hazards making things hard and challenging every day:
underground faults and congestions, strikes, work rivals... Everything makes regular duties become challenges against the passing time.
The game is currently under development for Windows and Linux and a first beta release is planned for the middle of November, so more it's going to be shown soon in the dev-blog and announced on Twitter.
For any game related discussion, users can use the dedicated folder in the forum or join our IRC chat to discuss in real-time with the developers.
